As a licensed sports medicine practitioner with many years of experience I have had an opportunity to see and try many different products with the athletes I have worked with. I have personally used each of these items as well treating my own sports injuries. I am part owner in Quest Sport Medicine. 1st Step Insoles– These durable sport insoles provide outstanding cushioning and motion control. A high arched (pes cavus) foot can benefit from the product’s shock absorption material. The motion control quality of the insole is ideal for a flat footed individual (pes planus) and those that over pronate (the foot rolls in too far). 1st Step Insoles can be effective in treating a wide variety of injuries including plantar fascitis, achilles tendonitits, shin splints, patellofemoral pain and even back pain. We have used them to help a wide variety of conditions and a very diverse group of people. From cross-country runners experiencing knee pain from running excessive mileage to construction workers with back pain from standing on hard surfaces all day. Available in male and female shoe sizes.

Swede-O Ankle Brace– This lace up brace does a great job permitting normal motion while preventing extreme motion that could cause injury. Stabilizing inserts on each side of the brace provide additional lateral support. Available in male and female shoe sizes.

Elastogel Heat and Cold Packs: These packs serve a dual purpose. They can be used in the initial stages of injury when cold application is required and after the acute phase of injury when heat can be used. They are made of a tough, resilient gel material that retains it’s flexibility even when used right from the freezer. The flexible pack can be wrapped around a body part to provide therapeutic cold or heat to the entire body part. We have had the same pack at home for over 10 years and it gets a lot of use. We keep it in the freezer for cold application to acute injuries but we also take it right from the freezer and put it in the microwave for heat therapy.
